Dearest Globel Citizen,
Our journey to Liberia, Africa commenced with a scenic drive from New York to Washington, D.C., where we had the pleasure of meeting with our esteemed Head of Experiences, Asha Bey, who oversees the meticulous planning and execution of all Goe Global events in the DMV area. Following our discussion, we visited an elegant rooftop venue, which we intend to use for our first annual Rooftop Rendezvous Ebony Soirée D.C. The space itself was nothing short of stunning, perfectly embodying the refined ambiance we strive to curate for each of our experiences.
The venue boasts an enclosed indoor area with a fully stocked bar, complemented by an L-shaped rooftop terrace offering sweeping views of the Capitol, two renowned professional stadiums, and a stunning panorama of the city. Having only seen photographs prior to our visit, standing there in person, I could already envision the atmosphere and energy that June 7th would bring to this space. After soaking in the breathtaking vistas, we proceeded to a nearby restaurant for a meal before heading to the airport for our flight to Liberia, which included a 16-hour layover in Casablanca, Morocco.
Arriving in Morocco, the gateway to North Africa, filled me with an indescribable mix of joy, intrigue, and a touch of apprehension. While excitement coursed through me, there was also an underlying fear, as I found myself uncertain of what to expect from both Morocco and Africa as a whole. This marked my first return to the continent in twenty years, since we left in 2004 and resettled in the United States. Having been so young when we departed, my memories of Africa are faint, leaving me with little sense of what lay ahead.
Due to the extended layover in Morocco, we were graciously provided with complimentary hotel accommodations, a service typically offered by most airlines for layovers exceeding eight hours. Rather than spending our 16 hours confined to a hotel room, we thoughtfully planned ahead to make the most of our time in a country we had never visited. We arranged for a private tour, with a driver who collected us from the hotel and took us on a two-hour journey to Marrakech. There, we began our private guided tour with a camel ride, offering a unique vantage of the landscape. Following the ride, we embarked on a walking tour through both the old and new Medina, starting at the Koutoubia Mosque in the historic Medina. Our journey culminated at the iconic Jemaa El-Fnaa square at dusk, where the sun set over this storied location, once a site of public executions, now transformed into a bustling market hub.
At the conclusion of our tour, the driver dropped us off at the airport, where we bid him farewell. Having spent the entire day together and forged a personal connection on multiple levels, parting felt bittersweet. As we boarded our flight from Morocco to Liberia, a new wave of emotions—nervousness, excitement, and the weight of responsibility to deliver on our Beach Brunch—washed over me all at once. Uncertain of how to process these conflicting feelings, I remained wide awake throughout the flight, while my brother rested peacefully beside me.
Upon our arrival in Liberia, we were utterly.... profound that we would like you to experience it with us on our next journey rather than you reading about it, as the requests to join us were numerous. In the meantime, we invite you to enjoy the recap video from our unforgettable Beach Brunch experience. We eagerly anticipate Goeing Globel with you in December 2025, when we host another experience in Liberia.
